The food is great and Cint Eastwood ate there when he was in the valley making movies!
Went in ordered the fish and chips to go for & 7.00. Talk about lousy !! It was nothing more than a fish stick. Awful. I paid with a ten and the change (it came to 7.42) and the gal asked me if I needed the change. ?? Huh? I tipped a buck but for a pick up it was a little outrageous to expect a 3.50 tip..I won't be back. The Main st Burger down the street is top notch for fast food. I won't be fooled again.
It was so good and im so so so sad it's closed
Pricey but always yummy.
A long time favorite place to go!
Burgers are Horrible, but the Onion rings are the best. Fried Zucchini is very good. Fries are ok too. But skip the miserable burgers, just order sides.
The food here is always simply amazing! I've never had a bad experience eating here. The staff are always friendly, and the food is always great. tThey really know how to make their burgers taste great!
Went there on Sunday afternoon 1 hour before closing. Our first visit and of course they are famous for their onion rings. The girl goes on to tell us they were OUT of onion rings. Really. Not only that our orders were wrong when we got home. Food was fair. Service was good. We not recommend.
Family wanted to go since we haven't been for s long time due to moving. Definitely not as good as it used to be. Sloppy burgers, tasteless grilled ham & cheese, not sure what shakes are made of but they are almost watery - does not taste or feel like ice cream. Quite disappointing.
Went here for lunch during lunch hour, people were nice, got the Big Hungry and it was good and fresh. And they bring you the good to your car, what more do you need?!
Love the food. Pricey though before they raised prices one of my family's faves
This place was only mediocre. The service was good but the food was overpriced and only ok. Would not go again!
This is the burger stand I grew up on. It's not solely nostalgia that keeps Me going there. The food is very good, and proceed reasonably. And, as always, it's the local option in an overly corporate world, so it's the option of conscience.
Delicious old school burgers tots and shakes.
My family has been visiting here for decades. I prefer their hot dog, fries, and fry sauce to anyplace else in the valley.
Great food! Pleasant staff.
This is a great little throwback drive-in. My daughter loves the cherry shakes.
Good ol fashioned burgers and shakes!
This place is a land mark among meridians long time residence. The prices are set according to their delicious food. With many options available. Weather is not and issue as the can accomidate most any palate. Great place guys. Check it out is an absolute must.
So sad they are closing. Big hungry burger and an Orange Scotch and Soda is the only way to go. Been eating there for over 11 years. Going to miss them.
Always great and kind service, food i get always satisfys my belly
Used to love this place, would go there 2 or 3 times a month. I'm not sure whats been going on in the last year, but I won't be going there anymore. The servers ask if you would like to leave a tip when you pay. Isn't it my choice to tip based on your service. I tried to call in an order and they asked me to call back in a couple of minutes. They seem to have a large turn over which is sad because I loved their food
Been going there since 1974 the food is good live the foot long hotdogs love that they still come to the car and take your order
Love it. Go here every time I go to Idaho.
Always great service and food!
Great food. Great service. Wonderful slice of local pride. Drive up order your food eat in your car or take it to go!
We are huge fans of drive-in diners. I'm basing this review off of comparing it to other drive-ins in the area, like The Golden Wheel and Roe-Anns. Based on the reviews, we ordered milkshakes, the homemade onion rings (with a side of fry sauce to be sure), and two cheeseburgers.Milkshakes: Good. Worth the price? Heck no. Homemade onion rings: Fabulous! Worth the price? Absolutely. The fry sauce was fantastic also.Cheeseburgers: Not good. Worth the price? Not even. The burgers barely had anything on them, they were smashed and mine had almost fallen apart before I unwrapped it. They were $4.50 per burger. They tasted and looked closer to a $3.00 burger. For the price, this is not worth going to.
I like to drop by for lunch, 'cause it's close, or occasionally a milkshake. They make a fantastic milkshake! The service is very good, and quick.
High price for such bad food. Burger and fry combo. Terrible. Lacks veggies and meat was cheap grind. Never again.
Amazing place to go for any meal. The food is amazing. The service is great. And it really takes you back to the good old days of classic American food.
Hungry Onion was as good as it has always been.... I had not been there for many many years and it was still the same great friendly fast service... The food tasted the same as it did many many years ago when I used to work there... It was hot and delicious... So yummy! if you have never been to the Hungry Onion you better go because sadly they will be closing their doors at the end of the year... Many wounderful memories at this place from days gone by....
Great burgers and fries made only the way "old time hometown " burger establishments can. Ranchburger my favorite has ranch dressing.
The service was great but the food was really low quality and kinda expensive for being such. I expected a more handformed burger patty then a frozen preformed. The onion rings were way better than the fries.
I'll miss you, Hungry Onion. Your tots and cheese brogies always hit the spot.
Always great quick service drive up or sit out at the picnic table and the best fried zuchinni in town. No indoor dining but worth it. Burgers are A++++ and you cant beat milkshakes and scotch n sodas.
The new media caused them to be super busy, they were out of so many things. Hope they stay busy, but restock so we can get the items we went there for.
Poor at best, pretty marked up value meals also. All the cheese in the mazzarella sticks was cooked out of them.
Service was quick, food was good and the price was fair. Simple menu makes for an easy quick drive in experience.
The burger and fries were so delicious add a milkshake and it's the best
I had been avoiding the place for awhile, I even thought about doing a bad review they had gone downhill so badly in the last year or so but no.I went again out of nostalgia when I heard they were closing and was disappointed again, this is not the place that I remember from the 80's and 90's. It would be nice if it got new owners like the Fanci Freeze and Big Bun did in Boise but alas the last independant drive in in Meridian is going under and i will have to drive aways for my black raspberry milkshakes.
Great little place with wonderful choices. Would recommend that you try it, as the food is delicious for a reasonable price. Only problem I can see is limited parking for taller than normal vehicles.
Sadly they are closing doors end of Dec. Great little drive in
The burger was okay, Nothing special. The onion rings were eh, tasted like old grease. The chicken fingers were disgusting and for $8 talk about a waste . I definitely won't be back.
Hungry Onion has been a landmark in Meridian for more than 50 years. I have great memories of this place and it will be a sad day on 12/28/19 when they close the door and walk up window forever. They have the best Scotch & Sodas and the best ice cream cones. If you haven't been there, get there before they are gone.
First and last visit. So long to a Treasure Valley institution.
Many, many memories at the Hungry Onion! Great food, great people. I'm sad to see it close.
$15 for Meh...So disappointed, was really hoping this place would be that hole in the wall spot. It's not. Seemed like everything was Costco frozen and thrown on the stove, or dropped in the deep fryer.Still curious about the fish and chips and fried chicken, but doubt I'll be back
Great food, staple of meridian. Sad to see it is closing.
Had a Peanut Butter milkshake on Saturday and it was terrible. My husband thinks they ran out of their normal peanut butter they typically use. This is very disappointing considering how much we enjoy their milkshakes. Went back yesterday and had a chocolate milkshake and it was delicious. They redeemed themselves. Wish the staff was friendlier. They seem to lose the good ones too quickly.
They were busy and out of alot of stuff. No onion rings. Got our food home in Boise and was not what we ordered n paid for. Called and was told they had no ham either but failed to let us know when we ordered the #1's. Said they would refund the difference...wth
